From pencil and paper to a mobile app: the analyst assigns work orders straight to technicians and follows them to completion.
Paper work orders → a mobile app.
The screens shown use invented customers. The live app shows an end customer's name, phone and home address together, which no client permission can authorise us to publish.
01/Problem
- Every service call lived on a printed sheet filled in by hand.
- Sheets were transcribed and filed later, and often reached the office incomplete — or never.
- Material cost and hours were reconstructed from memory.
02/Source data
- The paper work order, field by field.
03/Solution
- The analyst assigns each work order directly to a technician and follows it until the service is done.
- The technician closes the whole order from their phone, on site: customer, diagnosis, materials, readings and hours.
- Before-and-after photos and the customer's signature, captured on the phone.
- Each finished order becomes a branded PDF and a ready-to-invoice job, with the true material cost and its receipt.
04/How it's built
- Next.js
- TypeScript
- PostgreSQL
- Prisma
05/Impact
- The gap between the field and the back office is closed: management sees what is being worked on, by whom, and what it costs.
